Central Arts Academy provides performance opportunities for all of its students in spring and winter recitals. In addition to the recitals, Central Presbyterian Church has a rich music tradition and offers a wide variety of music programming open to the public for all ages! Charity Wicks is the Director of Music Ministries at Central Presbyterian Church, a position she has held for three years, and her duties include serving as organist, choir director, and programmer of all other special music events. Charity has played and music directed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico as a concert pianist, chamber musician, and conductor. She is very active in the contemporary opera world, and was the associate conductor of the world premier of Stephen Schwartz’s first opera, Séance on a Wet Afternoon. She is also very active in the Broadway community, working on such shows as WICKED, BILLY ELLIOT and SPRING AWAKENING. She holds a BM in piano and MM in chamber music from Temple University, and a DMA from The Manhattan School of Music in instrumental accompanying.

Motet Choir An adult vocal choir that participates weekly in the 10:00 a.m. service, as well as at other special services. This choir covers a broad range of choral repertoire, including baroque, classical & romantic works, to gospel, folk and contemporary anthems.*rehearses Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 p.m. weekly in the Choir Room
Vesper Bells An adult bell choir that participates in the 10:00 a.m. service once every two months, as well as at other special services. A wide range of music is covered, including bell solos, pieces with piano and choir, and hymn accompanying. Previous bell ringing experience is recommended. (A spring service-participation schedule will be provided) *rehearses Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. weekly in the Bell Room
Children’s Choir A children’s choir for grades 1-5 that meets weekly to learn about, create and rehearse all kinds of music, and participates in the 10:00 a.m. service once every two months. (A fall service participation schedule will be provided)*rehearses Sundays from 11:20 a.m. -noon in the Sanctuary
Angel Choir A special children’s choir for Pre-K-K, which will rehearse for two months leading up to Christmas (November/December rehearsals), in preparation for participation in the special holiday services. *rehearses specified Sundays from 11:00-11:20 a.m. in the nursery school wing, Room 125
Men’s Choir Meeting ONLY in the months with 5 Sundays (November & March), this favorite group will cover various styles of music, and have a two-week rehearsal period for each service participation (a specific rehearsal/service schedule will be provided). *rehearses November 16 & 23 (performs on November 30) from Noon-1:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. March dates TBA
Pick-up Choir Occasional Sundays throughout the year will be designated as Pick-up Choir Sundays, where no previous rehearsal is necessary except that Sunday morning, and the music will be fun and easily accessible for all! Keep an eye on the bulletin and weekly church email for these dates as they arise.

Crashing Giants (grades 6-8) This group has a fun indie feel to it combining driving percussive elements with spirited vocals to make for a vibrant modern sound! *rehearses Wednesdays from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in the South Classroom below the Youth Center.
High School Praise Group This group will cover a wide range of repertoire ranging from full praise band to individual solos covering everything from indie, folk, pop, gospel, reggae, jazz, singer-songwriter, and contemporary Christian music. *rehearses Thursdays from 7:45-8:30 p.m. in the South Classroom
Adult Praise Band Similar to the High School Praise group, but with a little more wisdom under their belts, this group will cover a wide range of repertoire ranging from full praise band to individual solos on a weekly basis at the WAVE service. The Adult Praise Band covers everything from indie, folk, pop, reggae, gospel, jazz, singer-songwriter and contemporary Christian music. *rehearses Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the South Classroom
